Sounds Bien is a six-piece collective of musicians united by a passion for rhythm, culture, and the spirit of global connection through music. Their current live project, “Santana Reimagined: The Spirit of the World,” pays tribute to the timeless sound of Carlos Santana — honouring his unmistakable guitar tone, Latin-rock grooves, and spiritual intensity.

Audiences can expect the familiar fire of Black Magic Woman, Oye Como Va, and Smooth, reimagined with earthy percussion and the improvisational heartbeat of global jazz and world music traditions.

The project is the love-child of local percussionist Mark Welch and Colombian-COVID-marooned Chris Phillips, drawing deep inspiration from Afro-Latin rhythms, Colombian pulse, and the broader world-music movement.

Joined by Rocky Rochelli, Dave Smith, Robbie Hart, and Steve Johnston, Sounds Bien thrives on collaboration and cultural exchange. Each member brings a distinct background in Latin, jazz, funk, and world-folk traditions, blending into a performance that feels both deeply rooted and endlessly exploratory.
